Self-confidence is overrated

15,98

How would you feel if you discovered that the self-confidence you have been chasing might be holding you back?

As you read these pages, you may wonder why I am sharing my life story with you. The answer is simple: because, as humans, we often judge others for the flaws we fail to see in ourselves. I don’t just believe this—I know it.

My name is Susana Serrano-Davey, and after more than 30 years in the corporate world, I have seen firsthand how the constant pursuit of self-confidence can create tension, insecurity and a lingering sense of inadequacy. The purpose of this book is clear: to invite you to question the deeply ingrained belief that confidence is the key to living fully — and to show you that there is an even greater inner force waiting to be discovered.

This book is not for those whose overflowing confidence borders on egomania, nor for those who are too afraid to take the first step — for there are limits that no book alone can overcome.

It is written for normal people, like you, who simply want to improve. Inside, you will find stories, advice, and strategies that, with practice and persistence, can become a set of good habits capable of transforming your life.

The goal? That in a few months, you will start seeing results — just like someone who, after six months at the gym, looks in the mirror and feels stronger.

In this book, I blend personal stories — entertaining and moving — with practical tips and techniques that have worked for me and many others. My previous book stood out for its unique combination of fun and learning, and in this book, I aim to repeat the formula that resonated so well with readers.

From my personal experience, shared with honesty:

I went from being a 16-year-old girl too afraid to tell her parents she wanted to drop out of high school to becoming a woman who, through hard work and determination, studied in another country, in another language and graduated cum laude with honors. Over time, I reached senior positions in multinational companies, and today, I dedicate myself to mentoring and helping others grow both personally and professionally.

This book is about that: enjoying the journey of reading my experiences while applying the exercises and methods that have truly worked for me. Other paths may also work, but this is the one that has been the most effective and rewarding for me — and I am confident it can help you too.
