The end of the year is always a good opportunity to reflect about how the year as gone. It is a great excuse to pause and think about all the challenges we have overcome and the progress we have made. Remembering our achievements and setting the tone for what direction we want to take in the new year.
I have, for many years, taken this time to reflect, both in terms of my own progress and also with my team. Reflecting together can be a great way to celebrate what we achieve together.
This year, in particular, is probably more important than ever to do this as it has been one of the most extraordinary years in recent memory for many of us regardless of what we do or where we live.
I invite you to ask yourself some questions that I have asked myself to come up with an end of year summary to value the difficulties and close on a positive note.
- What was the biggest challenge I faced and what have I learnt from it?
- What have I accomplished thanks to the external disruption that 2020 has brought to my environment?
- What significant change have I made, or plan to make in 2021, as a result?
- What do I appreciate now that I overlooked at the beginning of the year?
My biggest challenge was a health scare, that is now solved, that helped me reconsider what is important and what I want to spend my time on. This and the time bubble that COVID created has given me the opportunity to make changes and start doing new things just because I enjoy them. I have changed a permanent role for interim work and other interests. I appreciate my health more than I ever have and the freedom this new attitude has given me.
So what’s your end of year summary?
